Did you know that God hears your cry when you are going through challenging times? Have you ever gone through such a painful situation that all you could do was cry? You may be in that condition right now where you cannot master the words to explain the kind of pain you feel. The truth is, that we all go through challenges which sometimes can make us question whether God hears or sees what we are going through.
God Heard the Children of Israel
The Wonderful Story about Moses and the Children of Israel in the bible teaches and reminds us that God hears our cries and comes to our rescue.
During that long period, the king of Egypt died. The Israelites groaned in their slavery and cried out, and their cry for help because of their slavery went up to God. God heard their groaning and he remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac and with Jacob. So God looked on the Israelites and was concerned about them.
The children of Israel were going through an intense period of persecution. They had been put under bondage by Pharaoh because he was afraid of them. The children of Israel were many in the land of Egypt because they had multiplied and greatly increased. When he saw how many they were, Pharaoh thought they were too mighty for them and if war broke out, they would join his enemies, fight against his army and leave Egypt. He decided to turn them into slaves.
Every day, they experienced arduous labor. Their days of joy and happiness had turned into sorrow and tears. I can imagine how difficult it was waking up in the morning, knowing the challenges the day held. Under the circumstances, dreams of an easier life were farfetched. How were they going to get out of such a difficult situation? Many of them were born in Egypt. Egypt was home. It was the only place they knew. But home had become unbearable. They cried out for help, and God heard them.
He sent Moses back to Egypt and used him to rescue them from bondage.
God Hears Us Too
One day, a young man was in so much pain after the death of his mother. He asked, “God, where are you? Did you now hear all those prayers we made? Where are you? There is no one who does not go through challenging times. Sometimes, challenges cause us to groan and moan because of the deep pain we are experiencing. The groaning of a parent who has lost a child, the heartache of a husband or wife who has lost their spouse, the pain caused by sickness, and so on can sometimes not be explained in words because of how deep it hurts an individual.
Just like God came to the rescue of the Israelites, God not only hears you but will intervene in your situation. Only God can give you peace amid a quagmire. Only he can give you joy in times of sorrow. God is the best comforter and encourager. He knows what to say when others have no words left to say. He is the only one who knows what to do when others have run out of ideas. His embrace is so big, his love for you is so deep. He is compassionate, thoughtful, and deeply cares for you. He knows what you need and when you need it. He is never late and is always present. No matter the challenges, you can overcome them because he is there with you. He will never get tired of your tears. Never will he reprimand you because you are groaning. His words will heal you. His caring hand will guide you. God sees you! He hears you!
