Don’t Get Stuck In the Details

PathsThere is a day I was talking to God. I was saying to Him, “Father, I can see the vision. I can see the big picture but I cannot see how I will get there.” The following day, I started thinking about Abraham. He was called Abram before God changed his name to Abraham. God called him out of Ur of the Chaldeans to go to a place where he was yet to show him. Abram, as he was called at the time, went with his wife, his nephew and his father. God gave Abraham a number of promises.

  • God would bless him.
  • Abraham would be a blessing.
  • God would make him into a great nation.

Abram could only trust God. He did not know how God was going to do it. He did not have children yet God said he was going to make him into not only a nation but a great nation. My question to you today is

  1. What has God told you to do?
  2. What has he called you to do?
  3. Do you have a vision and are you are wondering how it shall come to pass?

Do not get stuck in the details. God will guide you. As long as he directed you to do something, he will create a way for you. I know he will. You know why I know. This is what he says;

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6 (ESV)

God tells us to trust in Him with all our hearts. We should not lean on our own understanding. We get discouraged if we try and understand why we are going through what we are going through. God’s ways and thoughts are different from ours. The way we look at situations is very different from the way He does and sometimes, when we start to try and lean on our own understanding, we can easily get discouraged and start working out other plans for our lives instead of waiting on God.

In case of a single woman who does not understand why everyone else around her is getting married and yet she has been in a place of obedience waiting for a Husband. When she decided to go searching on her own, she kisses many frogs who never become princes and she is left picking up the pieces of her broken heart. Or a person who has followed God wholeheartedly looses his or her job and cannot understand why it happened and the more he or she thinks about it the more he or she despairs and starts making mistakes.

I have come to learn that God is still on the throne and He will provide for us in times when it is just hot and dry. The truth is, even when we are in a time of plenty, He is the one who has provided for us.

If we trust in God completely, wholeheartedly, we will not lean on our own understanding. We will trust that He is ordering our steps.

The steps of a [good and righteous] man are directed and established by the LordAnd He delights in his way [and blesses his path]. Psalm 37:23 (AMP)

God promises us that as long as we trust and believe, there is nothing impossible. This is how I take it. Only I can stop myself if I walk in fear and not by faith. If I depend on my own strength instead of depending on God. As long as I walk in obedience, I will eat the fruit of the land. In other words, all that God has said he will do concerning me and my family, he will do. I have stopped getting stuck on the details. God has the road map. As I walk, he will direct my footsteps. After all, he is the one who knows the best way to get to my destination.
